Seasonal ingredients are sourced within just a few miles of chef Carlo’s kitchen. Informal Ambiance at Del Fagioli: This Michelin rated family owned trattoria features a typical open-view kitchen and a lively atmosphere. Three Michelin Stars at Enoteca Pinchiorri: Come here for an amazing gourmet experience set in a 16th century palazzo on Via Ghibellina, the birthplace of Michelangelo. A vast wine cellar with the best labels complements beautifully presented contemporary dishes with a touch of Tuscany. Expect impeccable service.

Il Latini, Country Osteria in the Heart of Florence: Savor a hearty meal typical of an osteria in the Tuscan countryside.  This family owned eatery is popular with tourists but delivers a true Italian experience under a canopy of hanging hams. Try traditional specialties and the arrosto misto for variety.

Innovative Menu at Oliviero: Be sure to make a reservation at the small and smart Oliviero if you want to try the inventive menu items prepared with seasonal ingredients based on traditional dishes. Try grilled Tuscan steak, pasta specialties, mussels and an interesting green fig mousse dessert. Dinner only.

Restaurant and Wine Bar at Ristorante dei Frescobaldi:  Located in the historic heart of Florence on Piazza Signoria, Ristorante dei Frescobaldi serves typically Tuscan dishes with a wide selection of wine produced by the Frescobaldi family. Enjoy an elegant setting, perfect for a romantic dinner.

Internationally Inspired Cuisine at Ora D’Aria: Relax in a beautiful setting and enjoy superb cuisine prepared by a Michelin star chef and excellent service. Ora D’Aria once referred to the “hour of air” given prisoners opposite the original location, and now refers to the time guests spend at the restaurant. Sleek and Trendy IO Osteria Personale: This innovative restaurant has an almost Scandinavian feeling with sparse furnishings, soft jazz, white painted brick walls and long black banquettes. No pasta is served here, but what you will find is typical Tuscan fish dishes, meat, vegetables and cheeses. Finish your dinner with a spectacular lavender granita with white chocolate and edible flowers.

Where to Eat in Lucca

Historical Buca di Sant’Angelo: This Tuscan classic has been attracting diners since 1782. Known for local dishes from the Lucca area and wonderful homemade pasta dishes, Buca di Sant’Angelo provides excellent service in a comfortable but elegant restaurant with a typically Tuscan atmosphere – terra cotta floors, whitewashed walls and ceilings hung with copper pots and brass instruments. A wonderful spot to stop for lunch when touring the region.

Where to Eat in Montalcino

Authentic Home Baked Specialties at Paticceria Mariuccia: This landmark bakery was in the heart of the village established in 1935 when Maruccia Fineschi opened a confectionery shop at her Montalcino bar. Today, the pastry chef is her grandson who continues her tradition of enhancing classic recipes. Try the Cioccolatoni, a chilled chocolate fudge cake, amaretto cookies and a host of other delicacies.

Tuscan Views at Osteria La Porta: Enjoy hearty local specialties and amazing panoramic views of the Val d’Orcia countryside from the terrace at Osteria La Porta in Monticchiello near Pienza. Alaine Ducasse Restaurant Trattoria Toscana: This Michelin star restaurant owned by renowned Alain Ducasse is his only restaurant in all of Italy. Trattoria Toscana is located on the site of an ancient granary belonging to the Grand Duke Leopold II of Lorraine with picture windows overlooking vineyards. Expect dishes served in terracotta bowls to honor local traditions. Elegant and intimate, the dining room features brickwork, tile flooring and wooden beams. Open evenings.
