How to Get to Chamonix

The French Alpine town of Chamonix (altitude 1000m) is located on the road from Megève, France to Martigny, Switzerland or to Courmeyeur, Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel. One of the easiest French ski resorts to access either by plane via Geneve, by train, and by road (freeway / highway). Its central location close to Italy and Switzerland make it possible to ski in 3 countries in one day!

By Plane

If flying from North or South America, we recommend flying directly to Geneva.  Chamonix is approximately a 1h30 drive from Geneva.  Otherwise consider flying to Paris CDG  with flight connections to either Lyon or Geneva.

Low budget carriers fly into Chambery or Grenoble.

By Train

Head to St Gervais les Bains Station, then change to the Chamonix Express through the valley.
The TGV from Paris is approximately 4 1/2 hours.

The overnight sleeper train from Paris Gare d'Austerlitz departs at 11PM and arrives at 8:30AM.

Rail from London (8 ½ hrs) via Paris with Eurostar is approximately 8 1/2 hours

By Road

from Chambery (147km / 1h30)

from Geneva (100km / 1h40)

from Annecy (100km / 1h20)

from Grenoble (200km / 2h10)

from Lyon (230km / 2h30)

from Paris (615km / 6h10)

"Isle Blue is everything they say they are. They were a pleasure to deal with and were very responsive and informative. The pictures on their website are exactly what you end up getting and they provide full concierge service throughout your stay. My family and I had an amazing time and before we even returned home, we went to the Isle Blue website to check out their inventory for our next vacation. They really are just that good!"
