Of course, at the end of a day of beach going, even when close to a few great bars or cafes, you will want to enjoy the excellent cuisine that defines this region of France. Be sure you sample the local wines, Bandol and Cassis among them. St. Raphael is an excellent spot for wine tastings, and the hills around Nice are also excellent for this, as well.
Remember that you will also want to visit markets to sample fresh local cheeses, olive oils, and olives, too. Local specialties include the famous bouillabaisse, socca, pistou, and salade Nicoise. Pizza is actually another popular treat here, but unlike European and American versions, it is made with thin crusts and served with olives and a spicy sauce.
Among the most frequently referred restaurants are:
Le Marche du Course Saleya Socca Nice
La Merenda Nice
La Chaumiere Nice
Les Arcades Biot
Le Café de la Fontaine La Turbie
Hostellerie Jerome La Turbie
La Vigie Monte Carlo
Bacon Cap d'Antibes
La Vague d'Or Saint Tropez
Within this list you will find restaurants offering fine dining or excellent local specialties, with some specializing in breakfasts or baked goods and others offering memorable, multiple-course dinners.
