Bambu, designed in the early 1960s by architect Robert Hartley, masterfully combines West Indies architecture with Venetian Italian influences. Its Palladian arches, central pool, and Italian sculptures create a striking visual, making it one of the most photographed homes in its collection. The home gained widespread recognition when featured in Slim Aaron's A Wonderful Time: An Intimate Portrait of the Good Life in 1974.
The villa offers multiple dining settings to enjoy its expansive views and atmosphere. Guests can start their day with breakfast by the river, followed by lunch on the garden terrace overlooking Montego Bay, and end with dinner in the gazebo, accompanied by one of the most stunning nighttime light displays in the world.
Recent renovations have enhanced Bambu's elegance, introducing modern luxuries like wireless Internet, Apple TV, and marble bathrooms while maintaining its original Euro charm. Featured on the cover of Veranda magazine, designer Charles Faudree described Bambu as blending "Old World elegance with New World comforts." One of its latest additions includes a whimsical open-air garden shower and bathtub in a small hideaway bedroom, offering a spectacular nine-mile view over Montego Bay.
Bambu’s grounds are just as enchanting as the villa itself. The lush, tropical gardens, meticulously tended by Sam and his team, feature natural stone pathways leading to secluded terraces perfect for quiet retreats.
Bambu is also designed with accessibility in mind, offering a separate, wheelchair-friendly entrance with a ramp, as well as a pool with a broad 4-inch-deep platform for safe use by both wheelchair users and toddlers.
For animal lovers, Bambu is home to a few friendly dogs and a fabulous parrot, who can either interact with guests or stay in their open-air kennel, depending on your preference.
The Tryall Club Membership: complimentary beach, pickle ball, tennis, gym, pool, Hummingbird Kids Club, non-motorized water sports, Internet room, Usain Bolt Games Room for all ages, jogging trail, afternoon tea & Manager's Cocktail Party every Monday night. For various fees: golf, tennis lessons, Happy Hour, hair salon & spa, bars & restaurants, boutique, motorized water sports & Reggae Night on the Beach Thursday night.
The Tryall Club requires all villa and condo guests to become members during their stay via a Temporary Membership Dues cost of US$160 (plus a 15% service charge) per week for each guest 16 years and over, or US$32 (plus a 15% service charge) per day per person for stays of less than 7 days. Children between the ages of 13 and 15 are at a discounted rate of 50% plus a 15% service charge. For children 12 years and younger, the Temporary Membership Dues are complimentary.

While available for advanced requests, the concierge team connects with guests 30 days prior to arrival to coordinate arrivals and to reserve desired services and experiences. Guests with scheduled Christmas/New Year stays will be contacted 90 days prior to arrival.
For example, a 5 bedroom villa that offers a 3 bedroom rate will be the exclusive use of the guest but two bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms will be locked off. Capacity is capped at 2 guests per bedroom.

Rental rates:
The villa requires seven nights minimum in high-season, five nights in low season rental of villa at the full house rental rates. A $30 per person surcharge applies to outside guests (in excess of double occupancy per bedroom) who attend a rehearsal dinner, the wedding reception, brunch, or any other hospitality event at the wedding villa.

Clients are also required to hire outside caterers as well as rent chairs, tables, tents, glasses, cutlery, and crockery.
Terms and conditions:
The villa does not allow unregistered guests to stay overnight. Overnight guests are restricted to 2 guests per rented bedroom and must be declared. If extra guests require accommodations, we recommend the rental of neighboring "sister" villas. For "sister" villas where additional guests are accommodated, there is a seven-night minimum in High Season and a five-night minimum in Low Season. Guests are responsible for the set-up and clean-up of the event. The event may not occur within 24 hours of departure. For example, with a Saturday departure guests must hold the event on Thursday or sooner.
