Life at Villa Kumara on Saint Jean Beach is so sweet, it’s not hard to classify as the variety of sweet potato after which the villa is named. In fact, Kumara isn’t even a sweet potato–—it’s a vine, much like a clematis, that climbs to the sorts of heights guests experience when they vacation at this extravagant, feng shui bungalow on one of the finest white sand beaches in the world.
Kumara Villa is a three-bedroom bungalow tucked in amongst the palms on Saint Jean Beach. While Saint Jean is well-trafficked, sweeping palm trees, immaculate gardens, and a fenced-in pool lounge on the beach proper offer privacy and quietude. After a day sailing, paddle boarding, or kayaking in the backyard and lounging in the hammocks on the beach, cool down and watch the sunset from the large pool overlooking the white sand, or enjoy an alfresco dinner prepared by an in-house chef. Catering is also available and can be arranged by the complimentary concierge service who can also handle logistics like arrivals and departures, charters, bookings such as in-villa spa treatments, and much more to ensure the highest quality in relaxation available.
Two of Villa Kumara’s bedrooms are king-sized, while one has two single beds in bunk-bed form, perfect for a family vacation in paradise. Each room also has air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, vanity, and flatscreen television. Every room opens up onto the pool deck or garden as well. A table and chairs hide amongst blossoming trees and palms in the grass, waiting for an afternoon book enjoyed in the company of elephant statues that grace the property.
The main living space is entirely whitewashed, floor to ceiling—even the large sectional is white—which lends more attention to the decorative orchids skillfully placed beside sea glass accent pieces directly adjacent to the kitchen island and bar stools. Visitors will enjoy an ocean view from every seat in the house. Minimalist white walls and ceilings are brightened by oversized, blue tiles in the bathrooms, driftwood-colored furniture, and sea glass accent colors in the trim and storm shutters. Kumara’s blue roof and white exterior give way from veranda pillars to the poolside terrace to the ocean, spilling onto the beach as though it came up right out of the sand. While available for advanced requests, the concierge team connects with guests 30 days prior to arrival to coordinate arrivals and to reserve desired services and experiences. Guests with scheduled Christmas/New Year stays will be contacted 90 days prior to arrival.
For example, a 5 bedroom villa that offers a 3 bedroom rate will be the exclusive use of the guest but two bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms will be locked off. Capacity is capped at 2 guests per bedroom.
