Cabarete
This town in the Puerto Plata is famous for beaches and nightlife, but is also a hotspot and home to some of the best windsurfing, kitesurfing and regular flat board surfing. The top beaches are found along the eastern edge of town and include Playa Encuentro and the Camino del Sol.
Las Terrenas
Another north coast town, along the eastern end of the island, it is famous for its gorgeous white sand beaches, pristine waters, and beautiful landscapes. However, it is also home to top kitesurfing and surfing conditions. With flat water near shore and a breaker at the bay, it is a good spot for all surfers.
Los Patos
A river and a village alike, it is a region close to the town of Paraiso. It is known for its surfing, especially because it offers a long, left wave. The beach must be accessed on foot, but is an easy walk along a rugged sand road/path.
With its amazing scenery, atmosphere, beaches, shops, sightseeing and restaurants, it may feel as if you don’t need to explore much of the Dominican Republic to enjoy a visit.
