Glamorous and visually stunning, the Cote D’Azur is exactly as its name describes – a lovely coastal area bordered by azure blue seas. Also known as the French Riviera, it is famous for stretches of curving coastline offering travelers a lovely array of seaside towns, harbor villages to experience and of course, the best film festival in the world. It also stretches a bit inland and borders with Italy. Brimming with culture, scenery, languages, food, and experiences in abundance, it is a must-see locale.

Côte is also a place where a single destination may serve as the perfect escape for an unforgettable holiday in the Riviera. Days spent in a private pool, tucked into lush gardens and stylish surroundings may be exactly what you need to relax and rejuvenate. Guests of Isle Blue can enjoy such idyllic and exclusive settings in luxury rentals in some of the region’s finest locations.

Cote D’Azur Things to Do

Naturally, even the most relaxed world traveler will want to get out and explore some of the region’s finest attractions and destinations. For those in the Côte D’Azur that means the top beaches and towns in the Riviera.

The key cities that draw travellers to explore their new and ancient neighbourhoods, shops, cafes, restaurants, waterfront spots, and other attractions are: Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez, Antibes, Menton, Eze, Cassis and lesser-known spots such as St. Paul de Vence, and Villefranche-sur-Mer. Not all of the hotspots are coastal, and you’ll find that towns like Grimaud, Fayence, Grasse, and Biot are appealing too.

When planning your visit your to Côte, make certain you provide yourself with opportunities to spend at least one day in at least one or two of these cities in France as they can offer some unforgettable experiences. However, do not assume that driving here is simple or easy. Some towns in France have nearly impossible parking, and some of the roads along the sea can be quite overwhelming. Instead, work with your Isle Blue concierge to make travel arrangements that can include a car and driver familiar with the entire region.

If you want to focus on a single city or town in France, there are several that can give you a good taste of the Riviera region.

French Riviera Cities to See

Nice is likely to be where you arrive in the Côte, and is also home to some of the loveliest things to see and do. The world-famous Promenade des Anglais will allow you to take in the waterfront, enjoying the many views, cafes, shops and endless people watching Promenade des Anglais in Nice has to offer. A visit to the Colline du Chateau above the town is another impressive way to take in the medieval village and see the ruined castle in Nice, and museums dedicated to Chagall and Matisse are some of the top things not to be missed.

Cannes is another must-see spot in the world, glamorous and appealing, it has a lovely Le Suquet or old town area, a covered market, the La Croisette boardwalk area, and truly lovely beaches. Naturally, Monaco is likely to be on anyone’s list, and if you go, expect a day of gentle and appealing walking through this enchanting town. There is the Monaco-Ville, which is a true medieval village in the heart of the modern city. There is also the Monaco Palace, once home to the lovely Princess Grace and the amazing Jardin Exotique or “Exotic Gardens” that features an impressive range of plants. St. Tropez is a shopper’s paradise, but also offers a charming village where cafes and authentic games of boule are still played.

No matter which cities you visit in the world, or which seaside towns you explore, you have made a wise choice in the Cote D’Azur and Isle Blue. We are sure we can help you to arrange things to do so you can enjoy an unforgettable visit to a truly unforgettable destination.
