Cap Cana is located in the Dominican Republic and is considered one of the most exclusive destinations of the Caribbean. It is even described as “the world’s new destination,” and aims to be the very best in terms of luxury travel and natural beauty.
About Cap Cana
Is it a town? A resort? No, set along the eastern end of the island (on which Haiti and the Dominican Republic are found), it is a master-planned community that was created to offer comprehensive services and facilities for both holiday makers and property owners in the area. It is unique for its ability to provide views of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and along with its neighbor, Punta Cana (another planned community), it offers the very best in services, amenities and facilities.
This includes being home to many amazing restaurants, in addition to its award-winning golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, famous and prestigious marina where world-class fishing tournaments begin, equestrian facilities, fitness and wellness facilities, exceptional spa facilities, its five-star hotels, dazzling array of night clubs, and countless shops.
It is home to a convention center and the Scape Park adventure area, which blends natural and man-made activities. It is also where a large array of luxury rentals are available as honeymoon villas, family vacation spots, and more.
Dining in Cap Cana
There are more than 30 spots to enjoy a bite while visiting Cap Cana. Of course, “enjoying a bite,” there can mean a five to seven course gourmet meal or a quick bite from a local favorite. Foodies will want to take note of the many options since, as one expert noted, from “exquisite dining choices to relaxed poolside meals, [the] stunning restaurants offer an inspired choice of restaurants and bars.”
Many point to the Eden Roc property as home to some of the most famous and well-reviewed eateries. They include:
Mediterraneo (a AAA four-black-diamond eatery) is described as the most elegant in all of Eden Roc, and specializes in dishes from the Mediterranean area of Europe. It uses ingredients delivered from “artisanal suppliers” in Europe and serves three meals daily.
La Palapa is part of the beach club area of Eden Roc and emphasizes seafood in a casual atmosphere, serving lunch and dinner, daily.
Blue Grill + Bar
Blue Grill + Bar is new to the property and is quickly emerging as a favorite spot throughout the entire Dominican Republic, winning kudos from TripAdvisor and many other sites. It serves poolside meals and has a cigar cellar, too.
La Cava is a wine cellar where pairing meals are a specialty. The domed roof gives the entire space an antiquated feel and it is perfect for groups of 10 or 12 to enjoy an opulent meal.
Riva Bar offers a 1960s glam atmosphere in which to enjoy signature cocktails and great views of the gardens and the pool each evening until 1AM.
Juanillo Beach is home to just one frequently recommended site, Little John, that is tucked along the sands and offers a truly Bohemian experience at breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is part of the Juanillo Beach area and is also an award-winning site.
The Marina Cap Cana area is noted for its position as a preferred spot for fishing tournaments to begin, and is home to restaurants like:
Soprano, a pizzeria that is ideal for group gatherings and those who want great views of the marina. Emphasizing fresh ingredients, many think of it as a surprising discovery.
API is on the beach at the marina and offers amazing ceviche and views. It sits along the sands and offers meals from 10AM to 6PM.
This is a charming downtown area and is where you will encounter “locals” enjoying their time at some of the most casual and authentic eateries. They include:
El Ricon de Paco
El Rincon de Paco, a tavern in the Spanish style and ideal for grilling and pairings with wines from their cellar.

The area is full of other gastro pubs and taverns, and it is a definite foodie’s destination.

There are also eateries of almost every kind at the resorts and the hotels. They include the Maraca Gourmet that focuses on authentic Dominican dishes and the Cafeina Coffee House that is a traditional American café with gourmet coffee, pastries and more in the Las Canas area. Sotogrande by Alsol del Mar has quality eateries including the Raices, the Spanish Veranda, and the poolside Merengue Beach and Bar Grill.
