Available several times a week, the Mayan Island Expedition is open to groups of up to 10 people . Set off early in the morning to learn more about the location, including information about its animals and culture. Part of the expedition takes place at a nature reserve that offers access to hundreds of species of birds, as well as deer, ocelot, jaguar, puma, and more. You’ll have the chance to canoe, zip line, swim, and hike in and near the lagoon at the preserve.
The trip also takes you to the Cenote Esmeralda, which is semi-open and has a great spot for swimming. Later on, lunch is served at New Durango. Meet Don Manuel and learn more about the area’s culture while experiencing a traditional home meal. This expedition also takes you to the Coba archaeological site, where you can take in the Monoch Mul Temple. Water, fruit, and other snacks are provided.
Tour itinerary:
- 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. pick up
- Visit the ruins of Coba (history, bike ride)
- Delicious meal in the house of a Mayan family
- Visit the Punta Laguna nature reserve (hike the jungle in search of monkeys and other wildlife, canoe on the turquoise colored lake, zip line, participate in a Mayan ceremony)
- Swim in an immaculately kept cenote 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. drop off
