Villa Nelson Gay in Speightstown, Barbados, is an opulent Palladian mansion made of coral stone and featuring six luxurious bedrooms and seven baths. With a capacity of eighteen guests, this is the ideal location for large gatherings – perhaps a corporate getaway or a destination wedding?
Situated on nearly two acres, this beachfront estate faces directly onto a half-mile expanse of beach, roped off for safety and perfect for water sports. A coral reef offers excellent snorkeling.
Your first experience of the house will be the refined entrance hall, featuring a marble floor, tropical plants, breezy latticework and visually stunning sculptures. The hall leads into the living room, with a view of the pool, gardens, and the sea beyond. The house is built on a single level, with a central living area located between two wings. The rooms are large, airy and elegant, and the white color scheme with green accents evokes the tropics.
In the south wing, you will find the gourmet kitchen and opulent formal dining area. The north wing contains the bedrooms, including the Mural Room which opens onto the pool and the gardens. All are well-appointed, and two are located in cottages on the grounds. You and your guests can choose from rooms with king, queen, or two twin beds.
The lounge area is shaded, and equipped with ceiling fans. It opens onto the gardens and the pool. The 50-foot pool features Italian tiling with inlaid mosaics, and is the perfect setting for relaxing with cocktails in the evening. From the pool, you can progress to the garden, and finally to the beach by means of a private gate.
For your convenience, Villa Nelson Gay is fully staffed by a butler, a housekeeper, a gardener, and a chef during the summer. In winter, two chefs are on staff.
For large groups, Villa Nelson Gay is the perfect location to call home during your Caribbean getaway.

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay! The staff is awesome and you are feet away from the ocean. Love the Nelson Gay!
Wonderful Villa, big rooms, very nice heated pool, just by the beach. Beach not very busy (very much appreciated). The staff of the Villa was amazing and genuinely nice. The chef were real good and the staff was fun and very professional. Trustworthy and punctual.

Access right at the beach with a sunset corner to have your drink while admiring the sun set
The staff is welcoming, warm, professional. They were there when needed and knew how to be discret.
You feel at home for your stay.
We first came to Nelson Gay in 2012 and have returned every year since. The owner lavishes the place with care and each year there's something more to admire. The staff completely make the place, and make sure we get a true holiday with not a care in the world. Nelson Gay is something from a more elegant age, and we absolutely love it. Next year is booked !
There were 16 of us plus an infant. Our visit to Nelson Gay was exquisite! The staff were all phenomenal and attended to our every need. The food was excellent, the accommodations were excellent, and the weather was perfect. We loved swimming in both the pool and ocean. Snorkeling was terrific and the local monkeys provided entertainment. We all would recommend Nelson Gay for anyone looking for a get-away vacation. Thanks again for providing such lasting memories from all of us. BEST VACATION EVER!!!
We have been to Barbados several times, and Nelson Gay House is the most wonderful place to stay. We took our adult children and their significant others, we didn't need all the bedrooms, but could see how many more people could be accommodated. Everything desired was available, from the use of tennis courts, spa, and water sports next door through Cobblers Cove, to the absolute privacy of the property for relaxing, to the proximity of Speightstown, and the accessibility of the water right out the gate. Some homes have wonderful views but no access! This home has both. The breakers afforded a place to snorkel, and for two days there were high enough waves to boogie board without fear of a rocky bottom. The staff was supremely professional. The chef did the shopping and prepared three meals a day, not the usual two we've been offered in the past. The laundry was done daily with our clothes brought back early each afternoon. The butler had coffee ready every afternoon at 4:00. The monkeys came and went, and we fed them only on the last morning, I recommend feeding them the first day! They are adorable and keep their distance. The landscaping is incredible as well. Banana and mango trees, breadfruit, even a sandbox tree. The bedrooms are comfortable and inviting. The formal dining room is exquisite, we only used it on Valentine's Day for two, by candlelight, after sending the kids out to Cin Cin! The house has the feel of a loved home, not just a rental house. There are games and snorkeling equipment, books and a Sonos system for music. You will never want to leave. We didn't!
Nelson Gay has a timeless charm and draws visitors into its embrace. From the moment you are greeted by the entire staff until the sad time when you have to bid them all farewell, you are guaranteed the most memorable experience. The position of the estate is ideal - on a beautiful (often virtually private) beach but within easy
walking distance of an attractive town in one direction and Cobblers Cove in the other. The bedrooms are light and airy: and we lunched and dined out of doors throughout our stay. The food is delicious - with optional menus offering plenty of suggestions as well as the opportunity to go off-piste.
Returning visitors to Barbados know what to expect in terms of the marvellous welcome and the opportunities to attempt the full range of sports and touring: or opt to do absolutely nothing except soak up the sun and wallow in the matchless sea. With its charming grounds, Nelson Gay provides a delightful base. Our party of nine enjoyed the most wonderful holiday.
