A historic property just twenty minutes from Florence, the Villa Simonetta, Florence Area, Tuscany is a two-story villa dating to the 1800s. It retains many of its original features and details, and it has been decorated to enhance that sense of the past, but has also been updated to make it a remarkable destination on its own.
The grounds of the villa are manicured and just like a private park. A tall hedge ensures total privacy, and features in the garden include a large portico where you can enjoy all of your meals in the al fresco style or simply retreat from the afternoon sun. There is another area furnished for relaxation and lounging, and the private pool has yet another terrace dotted with lounges, sun beds and areas ideal for cocktails.
The interior of the villa is a good balance to the charms outdoors. It relies on a more open floor plan than some villas and features high ceilings, elegant décor, and a lot of sunlight. Guests will appreciate the way that the rooms flow into one another, including the living room with its dual fireplaces and entertainment system, the reading room with TV, and the formal dining room. The large kitchen is also sunny and cheerful, and includes plenty of room for casual dining.
The five bedrooms of the villa are divided between the ground and first floor. One the ground floor is the queen suite with an en suite bathroom. On the first floor is a king bedroom that shares a luxuriously appointed bath with the adjacent queen suite. Another queen suite on this floor has a private bath, and a smaller twin suite also has a private shower.
For those who want to enjoy a short walk to a nearby village or a quick car trip to Florence, while also savoring the delights of a private villa, the impressive Villa Simonetta is the ideal solution.

We had a wonderful week exploring Tuscany from our beautiful base at Villa Simonetta! Thank you for the hospitality and for opening your beautiful property. We made many great memories!
We had a fabulous visit at Villa Simonetta! The pictures are very accurate, and the grounds are lovely. There were lots of beautiful fruit trees, fountains and fresh herbs growing everywhere. The location was also perfect. We were two families traveling together and didn't want to be inside the city of Florence with four kids, who loved being able to swim in the pool day and night. Yes, we were close enough to get to Florence easily on several of the days, and only about a one-hour drive to lots of other places, including Lucca (which was incredible), Pisa (we went at night and recommend that ), San Gimignano, and more. The kitchen was very well-equipped and the villa seemed huge. All nine of us could have been in separate parts of the house or hang together anytime. There's also a cute school across the street that turns into a neighborhood hangout at night where you could buy beers, ice cream and snacks. The local COOP market is a short walk, and tons of delicious local food for us to enjoy and cook in the kitchen when we chose to.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation! Your villa is beautiful! We will remember this vacation forever!
Very rarely does one come across a property that absolutely makes one feel as if their own home has been transported to accommodate their travel. The owner, makes every effort to ensure just that.
The villa itself is an old 150 year old home sprawled over 2.5 acres of land on the fringe of the small village of Calenzano. Recently renovated, preserving the family artefacts, it retains a dated charm and what it looses in terms of being annexed on a residential street rather than the rolling Tuscan countryside, it makes up by being just 15 minutes from Florence, well connected by bus and rail.
Very cosy bedrooms, fully equipped with a steam bath and pool, fruit trees and grill and the warmth and energy of the owner, reverbates in every moment of one's stay. No stone is left unturned to make one feel at home and even young children are catered for with family like baby sitters and paraphernalia .
A one week stay that left a gulp in ones throat, being over and a resolve to visit again and relive the nostalgia.
This villa is amazing, authentic, and so comfortable. Real Italy! So much attention to detail! Love it here! Can't wait to come back! Beautiful atmosphere, gardens, and sun.
Had the pleasure of spending the week at Simonetta. Sits in the middle of quaint town, Calanzano, approximately 20 minutes or so outside of Florence. Easy location to hop on and off of highways. Also public transportation in and out of Florence is available within walking distance of Villa. The home is beautiful, well appointed with antiques, bedrooms are roomy with upscale linens. Formal rooms downstairs, comfortable dining area. Outside patio is a great spot to start the day with a cup of coffee. The owner and host of this, his childhood residence was an absolute delight. He went out of his way to make us comfortable.
