If the idea of a resort-like property of your own, tucked along the coveted sands of Soliman Bay in the Mayan Riviera is appealing, then the impressive Villa Sombras Del Viento is just for you. It is a beautiful and large property that offers mature tropical gardens and palms, buildings that use natural materials such as palapas and marble along with a lot of native wood, and three separate structures each equipped with the most luxurious amenities and design imaginable.
The buildings each have common or shared living spaces, and the benefit of our full staff. This means you can work with our chef to plan different meals daily in any of the indoor or outdoor spaces. There is a massive swimming pool and surrounding terrace. This is dotted with porticos and outdoor spaces that can allow al fresco dining, hours of socializing and lounging or time spent in the sun. Terraces appear throughout, and each is decorated with contemporary and yet welcoming furniture, including ample places for lounging.
There are seven bedrooms spread throughout the property. Two feature a private terrace and small kitchen along with an opulent ensuite bath. Another ground floor bedroom features a queen suite, outdoor lounge and shared kitchen. The second floor bedrooms include two with private terraces and a shared kitchen, though both have private ensuite baths. There are also two third floor suites with impressive ocean views from terraces and large, opulent baths.
Clearly, the Villa Sombras Del Viento could be your only destination for a visit to the Mayan Riviera. As an idyllic spot for a family or special event, or as the perfect place for a group of very discerning travelers, it has everything a true tropical escape requires, from hammocks and private beachfront to full staff and a swimming pool, it will prove an unforgettable experience.

What a gem of a property. We had four families share this awesome beach house. We were taken care of from the start of our trip by preparing our food and drinks before we arrived and they made sure to provide us the best options for transportation etc. once we arrived we were greeted and amazed by the beautiful property. Well maintained and very clean. The kids loved the pool and beach that was very calm so they could go out 10 feet and still have water up to their waist. Clear water and every water sport available. We snorkeled, used the canoes and exercised with the long boards. Comfortably fit 8 adults and 7 kids. Perfect for four families. Chefs and house staff were amazing and they even cut coconuts from their trees for the kiddos to drink from. The only issue we had was the internet connection but they are in the process of using a new carrier.outdide of this we love this property and it’s our new family vacation home!
Just rented the whole villa with my family...10 audlts, 5 children. One word: AWESOME! Villa on the beach, pool, beach chairs/towels, etc. The cooks (Rolando and Jorge) (yes, they do the dishes as well), housekeeper Susie (cleans, make beds, groundskeeper Ricardo & Laura the concierge is always nearyby to help with any requests....Great little bay for snorkeling, paddle boards, Kayaks, snorkel equipment etc. I could go on and on. And, your bedrooms are air-conditioned for a night of deep sleep so you can play hard the next day. You have Xel-ha, Cenote, Tulum ruins etc all nearby. No noise except the sound of the breeze. Balconies everywhere to draw you out... be it early morning for the sunrise or to eat/relax on. Also, one end of the bay, a little happy hour place to drink, have fish and on the other end, a high end restaurant/complete spa. We will definitely return. Our saddest day...the day we left.
Amazing stay with our infant @ SDV. I was skeptical of the photos, thinking surely there was a catch - that the pool was shared amongst a broader condo plaza or that there wasn't actually beach access, etc. Everything truly was as advertised and we were blown away by how pristine the grounds/pools were, the proximity of the ocean, the thoughtfulness of the preparations/amenities in the house, and the hosts ability to be both welcoming without being intrusive. This was our first trip with our 4 month old and I would highly recommend for any family that wants to travel while preserving nap time. The proximity of the pools and even the beach were perfect for sitting within ear shot or monitor range during our daughter's naps (much better than one person being stuck in a hotel room). I was concerned about mosquitos but the amazing breezes made this a non-issue during our stay; the natural break in the bay from the reef made the waters extremely warm and calm (we even got in with the baby). The staff (groundskeeper and housekeeper) couldn't be nicer or have done a better job. Tremendous value, wonderful vacation - we hope to return regularly!
We went to Sombras Del Viento for school break (1st week of March) and we were thrilled with the place. It was a family vacation of 13 people and everyone enjoyed their vacation. We appreciated the fact that every couple had their own room with equipped individual bathrooms. The rooms were very confortable and the cleaners came everyday so the villa remained spotless throughout the week. The chefs made quality meals with fresh food everyday. It was fun to split our day between the beach and the pool. We were happy of our decision to rent a villa instead of an all-inclusive resort as it allowed us to spend quality time together (no need to rush to get chairs on the beach in the morning as we had our own private beach with enough chairs for everyone. Also, we could all sit together for meals as there was a big enough table for everyone. Eating outside is always a plus and we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy all of our meals outside (the villa is also equipped with plastic shades in case it becomes too windy or if it rains) but in case the weather gets bad, there is also a big dining table inside the villa. Every member of the staff was very nice and helpful. Since we were there for only one week, we limited our activities outside the villas but we visited the Dos Ojos cenotes which are located 10 minutes away from the villa and are a must see and the ruins at Tulum which is close by. We also did the VIP package for the dinner-show Joya from Cirque du Soleil at Vidanta. It was an outstanding experience and our concierge was nice enough to organise transportation (it is about 45 minutes from the villa). We recommend Sombras Del Viento with no hesitation.
A lovely private villa offering beachfront access and great facilities. Friendly and wonderful staff maintain the rooms and surroundings beautifully. A really great way to unwind and reboot!
