Your Rainy Day Itinerary in Cancun

Choosing to visit Cancun means you are interested in days of sunshine, blue skies, sea breezes and the joys of staying outdoors from sunrise until sunset, or later. As a guest of Isle Blue, your villa can offer you an amazing number of spots from which to take in the scenery and experience outdoor living at its most comfortable and opulent.

However, a rainy day can spoil even your well-laid plans. Though your villa is likely to have entertainment options and many things to keep you busy and relaxed, Cancun itself has a few wonderful things to do on a rainy day. Rain can occur at any time, even in the months of December through April. This may leave you with hours to pass, but not at the beach, yet the following options are easily arranged and enjoyed:

Cenotes

You are in the Yucatan Peninsula when you are in Cancun, and that means that you are surrounded by the natural beauty and wonders of cenotes, or hidden caverns. These are often home to stalactites and stalagmites. The popular cenotes can offer full-service areas with towels and stairs.  While the secret spots only a special guide will know require you to bring you own towel and sense of adventure.

Dining in Cancun

Cancun has hundreds of restaurants, and a rainy day may be the perfect time to gain access to those that are often busy. The smaller, local establishments near the beaches are often also the places receiving the most “thumbs up”, yet when it is raining, they may have very little business. Places like El Fish Fritanga, El Galeon del Caribe, Fred’s House, and Mocambo may be great options.

Shopping in Cancun

You may believe that the shopping is going to be limited to the usual tourism brands or spots, but there is a huge array of high-end firms that range from Burberry and Vuitton to Coach and Fendi in the city. You can also find excellent souvenirs from authentic artisans in many of the shopping areas, such as Kukulkan, Plaza Caracol, and Luxury Avenue.

Spa

Whether you are in a villa with access to private spa services or not, Cancun is famous for its luxurious spa options that include massage and facials as well as more advanced treatments. A rainy day is never spent in a better way than in total relaxation and rejuvenation at one of the spas of Cancun.
Submarines – Did you know that there are actually underwater explorations available to those staying in Cancun? Ask your concierge to tell you which of the tours are operating, and they may even be able to help you make a booking to explore the stunning marine life that is just beneath the surface of those turquoise waters.

Mayan Museum

The Mayan Museum is in the hotel area of the downtown district and is a fantastic experience for all. Learn about the intriguing peoples who once lived in the peninsula and see precious artifacts that are from hundreds to thousands of years old.
Naturally, if you don’t feel like venturing out on a rainy day, your Isle Blue villa is going to provide you with such fine amenities as WiFi and entertainment systems, and you could create an impromptu film festival or epic game competition in your private premises. Don’t forget that rainy or heavily overcast days can be great days for photography, and you may want to brave the raindrops to visit any gardens or beaches to capture colors and hues like never before.

There is so much to see and do in Cancun, even if it is pouring with rain, and these are just a few of the best ideas. Don’t forget to get in touch with your Isle Blue concierge if you want some recommendations about the best rainy day activities or you need to arrange for a car or transportation if you do decide to explore the area.
