This half-day tour combines snorkeling on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef with a visit to an incredible private cenote and cave. The experience begins in the ocean, where guests can snorkel among a wide variety of Caribbean fish, with the possibility of spotting a stingray or sea turtle. This activity takes place in an inlet or bay to avoid waves and currents, making the snorkeling safe and easy.
Cenotes are one of the most remarkable features of the Yucatan Peninsula’s landscape. These extraordinary caves are filled with beautiful limestone formations, stalactites, and columns. What makes them truly special is the rainwater that floods them, creating phenomenal clarity, striking reflections, light effects, and a mystical atmosphere that feels completely unique.
Cenotes have also played an important role in the history of the peninsula and its people. These natural wells were, and still are, considered sacred, as they provide access to water, the vital element of life. In traditional Mayan belief, they are also seen as entrances to the Underworld.
The tour includes a visit to an exclusive cavern where guests can admire different types of formations and learn about their evolution while walking through underground chambers and galleries for approximately 600 meters. This setting offers the perfect opportunity to understand the significance of these caves for the people of the Yucatan Peninsula.
During the first part of the cave, guests walk through water about 1 meter deep (3.5 ft) before reaching an area where the ceiling has collapsed and natural light enters the cave. Here, guests can swim in deeper water under natural light. This creates a truly magical and, for some, spiritual journey through the Mayan Underworld.
