Best of Turks & Caicos

Our Turks & Caicos Vacation Planning Guide

The archipelago of Turks and Caicos features the top ranked beaches in the world. Each island features pristine white beaches and turquoise waters. The island of Providenciales hosts the vast majority of travelers and has direct air connections with eastern cities into PLS. The crown jewel of Provo is the seven mile long beach of Grace Bay that hosts resorts and luxury villas but the island beckons to be explored with its magical landscapes.

Our Turks and Caicos guide provides our best suggestions of what to do on Providenciales and where to eat. Whether you wish to decompress and seek a relaxing and pampered vacation or an adventure filled vacation, the island of Providenciales offers it all.

Must Do Experiences

Here is our advice on what to do when on Turks & Caicos.

Charter a boat

Our must do recommendation is to explore the islands, beaches and cays of Turks and Caicos by sea. Private charters deliver lifelong memories and are certainly worth the splurge. Visiting pristine and secluded beaches and coves or nearby deserted islands give a glimpse into the raw beauty of nature.

There are two tours to select from. The northern tour will take you past Grace Bay beach to a fabulous snorkeling spot. Then you will explore the neighboring cays of Pine Cay, Parrot Cay and Water Cay along with their pristine beaches. Half day and full day options are available. The southern tour is a full day charter and will explore West Caicos and French Cay. There are various size boats to select.

Schedule a massage at the villa

How do you get to immediate decompression mode? Book a spa service at your villa. Combine the beautiful views of your villa with a decadent massage. Indulge in a Swedish, deep tissue or aromatherapy massage. Facials, manicures, pedicures, body treatments and yoga classes are available.

Providenciales Sightseeing & Beach Hopping

Providenciales features picture perfect beaches with its turquoise waters juxtaposed to white sands. The island features 100 hues of blue reflecting off the sea and sky. Here are the beaches we recommend visiting

  • Grace Bay (Sunset and Pelican beach subsections)
  • Taylor & Sapodilla Bay on the south side of Provo
  • Turtle Tail
  • Long Bay

Paddleboard & Kayaking Adventures

Providenciales and the neighboring cays are a massive natural park and marine reserve. Consider scheduling a paddle board tour or clear kayak tour to visit nearby mangroves, cays and beaches. The scenery is truly inspiring.

Where to Dine

Providenciales is a good but not great dining destination. Coco Bistro is the most renowned restaurant for travelers. Mango Reef in Turtle Cove is one of our favorites and Infiniti restaurant at Grace Bay Club is a wonderful option as well.

For the casual waterside lunch experience, Omar’s Beach Hut and Bugallos provides a lively and memorable atmosphere with their casual beach hut restaurants and live entertainment.

Keep in mind that Turks and Caicos has the highest food and beverage prices we know of in the Caribbean so be prepared for sticker shock even in the grocery stores.

In Villa Dining

In our opinion, there is no finer setting then dining at your luxury Turks & Caicos villa. Combine an exquisite view with the intimacy of those close to you along with a professional trained chef creates a lifelong memory for all guests.

Isle Blue offers private chef and catering options at your villa. Our concierge can set up a private chef, gourmet delivery and/or provisioning. We recommend booking in advance.

Getting around Providenciales

Isle Blue highly recommends renting a car for several reasons. Renting a car allows you to fully explore and experience the island. Providenciales is a relatively small and easy to get around island with one main highway that bisects the island from the north and south side. Please note that Turks and Caicos follow the British rules of the road so a quick adjustment to driving on the left side of the road makes your first day on island interesting.

Secondly, rental cars are affordable and offer a very good value versus other transportation means.

Isle Blue offers a large selection of rental car model. Providenciales rental cars booked via Isle Blue are available for pick up directly at the airport or they can be delivered to the villa during week days (delivery not available on weekends). Most rental car agencies are located off airport.

If you do not wish to rent a car, you can book an airport transfer to your villa online.

Expert Tips

Lastly, here are our expert tips to optimize your vacation experience on Turks & Caicos.

Fast Track Service

If you are arriving or departing on the weekend, we highly recommend the fast track service to expedite you through the arrivals and departures process saving you considerable time and headache. PLS airport is renowned for long queues on the weekends due to the substantial influx of travelers. Fast Track minimizes the pain.

Fast Track Airport Service

Pre-stocking

Arrange pre-stocking at your villa for the first few days. Arriving to a villa stocked with your favorite food and beverages allows you to immediately relax and jump into the pool. Air travel can be tedious these days and the last thing you will want to do is to go food shopping. Isle Blue has partnered with local provision companies to provide villa pre-stocking and gourmet meal delivery. Please contact our concierge to set up that service.

Ensuring Proper Travel & Entry Documents

Check your passport expiration date and if you need a visa to enter the country. US, Canada and Schengen area residents do not need a visa.

Travel Insurance

We have all witnessed the wreckage that COVID brought about in the way we live our lives. We highly recommend securing trip insurance to protect against the unexpected. Guests are welcome to use any travel insurance company. Isle Blue has selectively and exclusively partnered with Travelex to provide our guests top rated trip insurance coverage. Explore Neighboring Islands

Providenciales is surrounded by pristine islands and mangroves that give the opportunity to explore nature and how Caribbean islands were before development. You can travel to nearby Parrot Cay by Ferry for a lovely lunch and spa or arrange a boat charter to take you on a custom tour.

Observe a Caribbean sunset

Dedicate time to fully witness a Caribbean sunset. Prime sunset locations are located on the eastern end of Grace Bay beach or down south on Taylor and Sapodilla Bay beaches. Consider booking a sunset cruise or a sunset paddleboard excursion.

Just Relax

Turks and Caicos is renowned for its pristine landscapes and slower pace. It’s a destination that mixes luxury with utter relaxation. It’s perfectly okay to spend most of your time at your fabulous villa with friends and family around. Allow yourself to decompress and enjoy the blissful weather and offerings this exotic island has to offer without the fear of missing out on some crucial experience, restaurant or adventure that most destinations require.
